WordPress staging will create a complete clone of your current WordPress install. You can then make changes to the staging site content without impacting the live site. When you’ve completed your changes, you can overwrite the live website with a copy of the website on the staging platform. They will be completed in minutes.
URLs
The staging environment will automatically search and replace the URL in your database to use your staging URL. If the staging subdomain does not point to our platform, we’ll detect this and use the temporary URL instead.
FTP and MySQL
You can access the staging environment via FTP using your normal credentials: look for the ‘staging_html’ directory rather than ‘public_html’. A new database prefixed SCSTAGING will also be created.
Your staging site may be slower
Requests for staging don’t go through our edge-caching StackCache system. So you can expect better performance on the live site. Also, you won’t have to purge the cache or encounter stale content during development.
Already have a ‘staging.’ subdomain?
Please note that if the ‘staging.’ subdomain already exists, it will be overwritten to point to your new staging environment.
